New Jambox “The Collaborator”
In honor of MIDI’s 40th anniversary, The Museum of Making Music launched a new exhibit called “MIDI @ 40,” curated by Jonathan Piper and featuring a new instrument commission from me. Tasked with crafting a simple jambox without visibly-modified controllers, I delivered “The Collaborator” — a carefully programmed collection of hardware tied together with Ableton Live, Max, and (of course) MIDI. Ahead of the exhibit’s April opening, I created this brief demo video showcasing the instrument’s capabilities. The exhibit is open to the public and runs from April 7 – August 31.
