The whole of Meow Wolf Las Vegas is a MASSIVE collaboration, and Moldover’s Jambox “The Music Mill” is a hefty collaboration in and of itself. Here are the key contributors to The Music Mill and its surrounding environment within Omega Mart‘s Factory.

Liza Bender created the gorgeous Infinite Tuning Tunnels that surround and react to The Music Mill. This is her second collaboration with Moldover (she was lead set designer and fabricator for the Not Your Mirror music video) and beyond her art pieces that share a room with The Music Mill, Liza consulted on many of the aesthetic choices in the larger work, from lighting placement and color, to room-architecture, to panel graphics, and much much more.

Turner Kirk committed many hours of work to bringing The Music Mill’s stylized, highly-customized, MIDI-controlled lighting to life.

It began with the simple proposal to adapt Turner’s custom MIDI-Lights system (currently in use by a number of live music acts) for use in The Music Mill. As the complexity of the project grew and the bar for technical standards was raised, the scope ballooned to encompass multiple custom firmwares, custom 3D printed enclosures, and a complete overhaul of the circuitry. Turner worked with Meow Wolf’s tech-team to ensure a rock solid, super safe, and easy-to-maintain design. He integrated the same lighting system into the surrounding environment via Liza Bender’s Infinite Tuning Tunnels.

Turner supplied innumerable quick-fix solutions to accommodate the project’s continuously morphing puzzles. His patience, perseverance, and positivity, as well as his tireless dedication to the project, extreme attention to detail, and constantly-creative attitude won him the admiration and gratitude of all involved. Hats off to this hacker, musician, 3D-modeler, coder, product-designer, electrical-engineer, lighting-designer, and Omega Mart contributor extraordinaire… Turner Kirk (TurnerKirk.com)
